Looking to celebrate the 4th of July this summer? I have found 3 fabulous events in the Des Moines area you should attend. We have had a difficult past year with Covid, and there is no better way to move forward than by enjoying some events/firework shows. Please stay safe and remember the reasonings as to why we celebrate Independence Day.
Prairie Meadows Firework show:
July 3rd Prairie Meadows has an amazing firework show! In the past, I find FREE parking and a great view by parking in the Cinemark Altoona movie theater. Otherwise parking prices can range depending on the parking lot you find. This is probably one of the longest shows in the Des Moines area and is a lot of fun. Prairie Meadows has horse racing during the day incase you are wanting to go to that as well. This is located in Altoona, IA and is about 15mins from Des Moines.
Good Guys Car Show's 30th Speedway Motors Heartland Nationals
This 4th July weekend, the Good Guys Car Show is featuring a variety of different events for Hot Rod& Classic Car lovers. This event will leave you very entertained and on July 3rd, you can expect a fabulous firework show! You will have to purchase a ticket for this event, but the prices are extremely reasonable.

Ankeny Summerfest:
Come celebrate in Ankeny on July 10th! Due to Covid, this year they are having an Entertainment Garden event and a firework show. At the Entertainment Garden it is a lot of fun by being able to sit outside, purchase drinking tickets, and listen to a live band that starts at 5:00pm. After listening to the band, you then get to continue sitting in your spot and enjoy the firework show that starts at 9:30pm. Summerfest always brings people together and is a great event to attend.
